Had a great Thanksgiving weekend in the Uwharrie National Forrest. Mostly Horseback trail riding, but one trip to the OHV trails to christen the TJ.
Mostly a wife pleasing trip because she loves horseback trail riding and that's what is most important. I love the riding too. just not like her. She doesn't like the beating you take on the rough trails and steep drop-offs.
It was my first trip into the woods on 4-wheels in about 2 years because of a Knee-Replacement and a shoulder clean-out. Super pleased with the Rubicon features, even though I didn't get to wheel very long because of my wife being with me. I'm looking forward to many more weekend adventures. I posted some new pics so enjoy.

Sounds great, but don't let the wife hear it was a trip for her! lol

She knows and lets me know by how happy she is. If I could get my daughter to come ride horses with her i'd have the whole weekend to Wheel.

Well that would be a hard choice for me. It's been years since I rode a horse, and I've never rode one on the trail just around the neighborhood.

Hey not trying to push you, but do you have any modification plans for the TJ? I like to live vicariously through others. ;)

Uwharrie is red clay, rocks and steep climbs. Fun and challenging 2 way trails, open to Motorcycles, 4-wheelers, 4-WD's, Hikers, Mtn.- bikers. Only 16 miles of trails. Open from April 15- December 15.
Summertime temps get up to mid to high 90's DRY and DUSTY. After any rain anytime SLICK, SLICK, SLICK. The Uwharrie National Forrest Area also has lots of camping areas, Lakes, and Horseback ,hiking and biking trails. Just installed electric hook-ups at the Horse camp.
North Carolina has a lot of different places to go, most within a couple of hours driving time from anywhere .
Most people either LOVE Uwharrie or Hate it. It is rough but to me that just keeps the POSERS away. Nothing better than the smell of Uwharrie Mud baking on the exhaust.
Here is a link come down and visit if you have the timep://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/recreation/uwharrie/

Clay can be very, well, demanding. Hard to predict unless you are predicting you can randomly go any direct, or be sucked in and stuck. Lots of clay here in the Houston area as it used to be a sea floor.

Clay is a Bitc@! I got stuck in clay once and three vehicles tied together could not pull me out. 12x12wheeldrive+180hp+180hp+180hp = FAIL (<===if you are wondering wtf this means: Three 4.0 4x4 wranglers)
Once it sucks you in and gets a suction-grip on the frame, you are DONE.
Cleaning it off is another story. My wrangler had 1/2" worth of clay inside the frames for years.....and probably still does.
thank god i ain't claydeprivved.
