Default What did you do to your Jeep today?

Installed a 26 tooth speedo gear. It went from -6 off to +1 mph off.

32" tires on 3.07 gears! lol I'm still amazed it can go. Drives fine actually, but I can just about maintain 45 mph at idle!

Drove it to work for the 7th day. Hopefully I'll either figure out the problem with the torque converter lock up this weekend, or figure that something big and expensive needs to be repaired or replaced on the XJ.

I like the TJ but sitting up higher with the XJ I like better.

I want to lift the TJ but if I ruin the smooth ride it has now (yes the wife thinks it rides smooth) I'll be in trouble with the little woman. I'm only concerned with vibes from the drive train after lifting.

I put a pair of KC Daylighters on the bumper. There were limited places I could put the lights on the stock bumper. I have the a little more forward that I like but I needed to clear that tube that is the real bumper. So I guess I really mounted them on the bumper cover.

Anyway hope to get them wired up today. I did a search last night to see how to remove the center dash so I could get to the spot I want to mount the switch. I'll do a post on this along with some pictures.

Well I heard the metal to metal during braking the other day so I picked up some pads and rotors. I got around to changing them out last night.

I got to try out my new 1/2 impact from Sears. Boy when you spend more than $20 for an impact it really makes a difference! Bolts holding the front wheels came off easily and I'm guessing it put them back on to about 90 ft/lbs. I used 1/2 torque wrench to torque them down to 110 ft/lbs after I was done.

For some reason the driver's side caliber piston wouldn't push back in so I had to release the hydraulic pressure on that one. Passenger worked just fine. I suspect I may want to replace those calipers soon.

I used a lot of brake cleaner on the new rotors. So pretty, it's a shame they are hidden, of course they'll be dirty soon enough.

I recently purchased some floor mats from Quadratec for my 1998 XJ. When we got the 2003 TJ it didn't have floor mats. One day at Oreily's Auto parts I saw some Rugged Ridge mats that looks a lot like the ones I had just bought, just a different name on them.

I poked around and found these online...

I ordered a set, about $64 shipped.

Yeah I know I gotta clean up the wiring mess...
